Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy reportedly had to fork out as much as $50m to repair the state-of-the-art facilities for their indoor golf league.

TGL will officially start in January 2025.

McIlroy and Woods' virtual competition was supposed to start earlier this year but the venture had to be pushed back after its facility in Florida, the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, was damaged.

The roof of the air-supported dome, which covers about 250,000 square feet, collapsed.

Fortunately, nobody was injured. At the time, a dejected McIlroy said: "The postponement brings mixed feelings of disappointed and excitement.

"Above all, we are happy that no one was injured."

The league decided to build a permanent structure and drone shots that were published earlier in the week by the Palm Beach Bost showed the arena is almost near completion.

Construction began on 18 March, according to the publication, and a 46-foot-by-64-foot Jumbotron-type screen will also be installed.

Next, crews will focus on the steel framing for the 'surrounding concourse'.

That will be followed by six holes of singles in which each player plays two holes in head-to-head competition.
