Sun Mountain Ridgeline3 Push Trolley Key Features:

  • Vertical fit technology: allows the trolley to accommodate bags of any size
  • Easy access brake lever: prevents the trolley from moving downhill when parked
  • Two-step folding system: allows the trolley to be prepared and packed away in minutes

I'll be honest: when I think of Sun Mountain, the first thing I think of is bags rather than push trolleys. However, this year, the American brand has released a new push trolley that features some rather innovative tech.

The Ridgeline3 has been developed to allow it to be used by golfers of any shape or size. The key innovation that allows that to be achieved is vertical fit technology.

The clever sliding bracket can be moved up or down the central frame, allowing junior, ladies, and men's bags to fit the trolley perfectly.

Durable wheels, a simple folding system, and a nifty handbrake also add to the impressive trolley's appeal. To find out just how well all of these features worked together, I took the trolley out for a round at The Belfry's Brabazon course.

So, first things first let's talk aesthetics.

When I first saw the Ridgeline3, I thought it was rather large. The sturdy frame, large wheels, and chunky handle certainly give off an off-roader vibe that will suit golfers who find themselves tackling more demanding terrain during their rounds.

Sun Mountain branding is featured down the central beam of the frame, and the brand also offers the trolley in an excellent selection of colours, including hot pink, white and navy.

I don't typically associate trolleys with offering broad colour options, so it's nice to see a wide range available.

Looks really aren't that important when it comes to trolleys, but we have to give it to Sun Mountain, the Ridgeline3 is certainly one of the more visually appealing options on the market.

The next big consideration to consider when talking about trolleys is how easy they are to deploy and fold down.

The Ridgeline3 has a two step folding process and when in its smallest form the trolley only measure 38 x 42 x 66 (cm) making it easy to fit in any car boot.

Weighing just over 8kg, the trolley is also very easy to transport in and out of your boot.

The folding system is simple enough to operate and you can have the trolley up or down in mere minutes.

Fixing your bag to the trolley is very easy, too, and once you have set the vertical fit bracket to your desired height, as previously mentioned, it can fit a bag of any size. This becomes very handy when using a stand bag, as you can position the bracket high enough to be resting on the top rather than against the legs.

Two straps allow you to fix the bottom and top of the bag into place, and once secured, the bag felt very secure and didn't twist at all during our round.

Additional features on the Ridgeline3 include a netted pocket attached to the handle section, umbrella holder as standard, drinks holder as standard, and a hard shell compartment which is perfect for storing your valuables.

These additional features offer excellent storage, and the umbrella and drinks holder coming as standard at no extra cost is also a welcome touch.

So, how did the trolley perform out on the course?

As mentioned this trolley is quite large, but what comes with size is stability. From the moment we pushed off the first tee this trolley glided over the turf, and whether it was thick rough or manicured fairway, it had no issues at all.

The trolley itself doesn't feature an anti tip wheel, however the way its balanced means you don't have to worry at all about it falling over when going up hill, which is a big bonus.

The durable wheels made light work or wet patches on the course and the easy to adjust handles allow you to seamlessly adjust trajectory without any fuss whatsoever.

From start to finish, the Ridgeline3 was an ideal on course companion and allowed us to transport our clubs from A to B without any issues whatsoever.

Trolleys are meant to make your life on course as easy as possible, and thats exactly what the Ridgeline3 did.

Doing all the heavy lifting, It allowed me to focus on the golf ahead.

All in all the Ridgeline3 is an excellent trolley and we would highly recommend anyone looking to purchase a push trolley in the future to give it a great deal of consideration.
