Full Biography

Patrick Cantlay is an American professional golfer who currently plays on the PGA Tour

Cantlay was born on 17 March 1992 to Steve and Colleen Cantlay. He has one sister, called Caroline, and two brothers named Nick and Jack.

His nickname is Patty Ice. He reportedly started playing golf at the age of two.

Cantlay grew up in Long Beach, California where he attended Servite High School.

He had a storied amateur career where he held the No.1 ranking for 55 weeks.

Cantlay also won the Jack Nicklaus Award as the Division 1 Player of the Year whilst he was playing at UCLA.

He decided not to finish his final two years in college, opting to turn professional. The American made his PGA Tour debut in 2012 at the Travelers Championship.

Before that tournament he signed with the sports agency Excel Sports Management, which is the same company that represents Tiger Woods

It was in 2013 that Cantlay earned his first win as a professional on the Web.Com Tour in the Colombia Championship.

He earned his full PGA Tour card for the 2014 season. Unfortunately for Cantlay he fractured his back, which limited him to only five starts that season.

Sadly for Cantlay in 2016 his caddie Chris Roth was killed in a hit-and-run in California.

The two had been very close as Roth had caddied for Cantlay in his amateur career. Cantlay later reflected on how much this loss affected him.

Cantlay's first PGA Tour victory came at the 2017 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.

As of November 2022, Cantlay has won eight times on the PGA Tour. He has $32,677,929 in career earnings.

Cantlay's net worth in 2022 was believed to be in the region of $17m, but this would have increased after he was awarded $2m in the PGA Tour's Player Impact Program

He also picked up a further $1.75m at the season-ending Tour Championship at East Lake.

Cantlay has also represented the U.S. in the 2019 and 2022 Presidents Cup sides.

He was also selected as part of Steve Stricker's 2020 Ryder Cup team at Whistling Straits. He won 3.5 points from four matches on his debut.

When he was a junior golfer he also played in the 2011 Walker Cup.

Among his achievements so far include winning the 2021 FedEx Cup.

He has also been voted the PGA Tour Player of The Year and been as high as No. 3 in the Official World Golf Ranking.

Cantlay has not yet won a major championship. His best finish came at the 2019 PGA Championship where placed T-3. He had a top-10 finish at the 2019 Masters.

Outside of golf he cites his interests as ping pong and watching movies.

He is engaged to Nikki Guidish. He is extremely good friends with PGA Tour player Xander Schauffele

Cantlay's sponsors include FootJoy, Lexus and Hugo Boss. He is a Titleist staff player.
