Under Armour has been one of the most impressive footwear brands on the market in 2024. The Phantom golf shoes are one of the brand's premium spikeless models. 

The shoes feature the brand's super comfortable HOVR cushioning, a knit collar, and a lightweight waterproof membrane to provide performance comfort and style on the course. 

The shoes also benefit from a very modern design, which treads the line between golf shoes and every day sneakers. 

To see how the shoes performed, we wore them over a number of rounds at Silvermere Golf Club.

Let's get into it. 

Under Armour Phantom Looks:

As mentioned in the introduction, these shoes offer a very modern take on the golf shoe.

The textured upper features a number of patterns and cross-hatching, which combine well to create a striking visual aesthetic. 

The knitted collar is also an excellent additional detail, adding comfort and giving the shoes a sleek appearance. 

We went for the Distant Gray / Harbour Blue colourway, which is very versatile and can be paired with a broad selection of shorts and trousers. 

The shoes also have quite a chunky midsole, which we will discuss in more detail later in the review. It gives the shoes a distinctly trainer-like look both in hand and on foot. 

An opaque rubber heel cup also runs around the back of the shoes, adding another modern touch that we particularly liked. 

All in all, the Phantoms are a very good-looking pair of shoes, which makes them a perfect choice for golfers who like to transition from the course to the high street without having to change footwear. 

The stylish silhouette also doubles up as an excellent gym shoe that doesn't stick out at all.  

Under Armour Phantom Performance and Comfort:

The first thing we noticed when slipping the Phantoms on for the first time was the lovely cushioned feel underfoot and the stability offered by the knit collar. 

The thick HOVR foam midsole provides serious bounce, and you can feel energy returning to your foot with every stride. 

The level of cushioning was so good, in fact, that we actually took the Phantoms out on a run, and they performed remarkably well for a shoe primarily designed for golf. 

In terms of stability, the sole is rigid enough to prevent any rolling during the swing, and the rubber strap at the heel also holds the foot in place really well.

The contoured insole moulds nicely to the shape of your feet and holds them in place, preventing any foot fatigue during or after a round of 18 holes. 

When it comes to traction, the Phantoms have an array of small nubs on the sole, which performed very well during testing, but it should be noted we were playing on dry ground. 

Although we will need to play a round on wet grass, we do suspect the traction may be called into question as the rubber nubs are not particularly pronounced. 

We've mentioned the sporty feel of these shoes, and you do feel more athletic when wearing them. 

As we stood over our drives, we could feel a real spring in our feet, which allowed us to really get after the ball, especially off the tee. 

All in all, we were really impressed by the Phantoms' level of performance, so much so that they have quickly become not just golf shoes we use regularly but also everyday shoes.

If you're looking for an athletic and comfortable golf shoe that can be worn on and off course, the Under Armour Phantoms will be hard to beat. 

They look great and deliver great performance and excellent comfort levels. 

Coming in at £114.95, they also offer excellent value for money, as they're exceptionally versatile and can be worn for everyday tasks, including going on a run or working out in the gym.
