Piers Morgan makes bold Tiger Woods claim: 'He would have killed everyone'

Piers Morgan gives his views on Tiger Woods while competing at this week's Dunhill Links in Scotland on the DP World Tour.

Piers Morgan believes Tiger Woods 'would have killed' all of the game's other greats such as Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Ben Hogan and Sam Snead had they all played against each other in their primes.

Morgan, 59, made his feelings be known about the 15-time major champion while competing in this week's Dunhill Links Pro Am on the DP World Tour.

The iconic Pro Am event is staged across St Andrews, Kingbarns and Carnoustie in Scotland.

The TV personality and broadcaster was partnered with DP World Tour pro Matthew Jordan

Morgan and Jordan posted a three-day team total of 27-under par.

But they unfortunately finished one shot shy of the cut mark.

Although Morgan will not be competing at the Old Course at St Andrews on Sunday, Jordan most certainly will be as he is sitting pretty in the top 10 on the individual board at 15-under par.

However, he is seven shots off the 54-hole pace set by LIV Golf's Tyrrell Hatton, who is looking to become the first player in history to win the Dunhill Links three times.

During the Dunhill Links, Morgan was pressed for comment about Woods, 48, who is currently sidelined as a result of undergoing a sixth career back surgery last month.

Last year, Woods underwent ankle surgery.

That came more than two years after he nearly lost his life in a horror car crash in Los Angeles.

Woods played in all four majors in 2024.

He missed the cut in three of them.

In the one major he made the cut in (The Masters), he went on to finish dead last in 60th.

It is believed the 82-time PGA Tour winner could return to competitive action alongside his son Charlie Woods just before Christmas at the PNC Championship.

While a number of critics consider the curtain is slowly drawing on Woods' legendary golf career, Morgan still believes there is some light at the end of the tunnel for a man who has already been written off many times before.

"I think Tiger should play as long as he wants," said Morgan, according to GB News

"I would pay to watch Tiger Woods until he’s 90.

"So if he wants to keep playing golf, let him play.

"I remember him being written off last time, and then he won The Masters again.

"And suddenly all the critics that told him to give up, look very, very stupid.

"I would never, ever write off Tiger Woods.

"Obviously, his body’s not quite there yet, but if he was to get back to proper fitness, he’s an incredible athlete, with amazing mental strength — why can’t he carry on?"

There is hope from a number of players that Woods will pursue a career on the PGA Tour Champions once he turns 50 in two years' time.

Woods will also be able to use a golf cart to help him around the course when he gets onto the over 50s circuit.

The former World No.1 has made it clear in recent times that he can still play 'all the shots' but 'struggles to walk 72 holes'.

Piers Morgan claims Tiger Woods 'would have killed everyone'

Morgan then claimed Woods 'would have killed everyone' - even the likes of Nicklaus, Snead, Palmer and Hogan - had they all faced each other in the primes of their careers.

Nicklaus, 84, won a record 18 major titles, with Woods in second on 15.

Woods does, however, own a joint record with late great Snead for PGA Tour wins (82).

"I think Tiger is the greatest to ever play the game," continued Morgan.

"Just think peak Tiger, if you watch the videos of him or watched him at the time as I did, and you compare him to any other golfer in history, there’s no comparison, I don’t think.

"Obviously there are other greats, but peak Tiger Woods, he would have killed everyone."

As a result of Woods' lacklustre performances in 2024, and not competing in regular events on the PGA Tour, he has slipped all the way down to a current 1,005th in the Official World Golf Rankings.

Morgan appeared to have something of a mixed bag at the Dunhill Links.

There were some pretty ugly shots in there, as captured by Sky Sports Golf, but there were also some very decent efforts too!
