With the help of two-time major winner Jordan Spieth, Under Armour has enjoyed instant success since moving into the golf market.

While the brand’s apparel has been a hit worldwide, it’s in the footwear department where Under Armour is looking to cement its reputation.

Looks

Hybrid shoes need to tick numerous boxes when it comes to aesthetics. While they must appear smart enough to be worn on the course, players also want to be able to wear them around the clubhouse as casual shoes, and even out and about following a round.

The Under Armour Tempo Hybrid achieves this with flying colours. We would not feel concerned wearing these with a pair of jeans walking around the supermarket, and as a golf shoe they ooze class.

The simple design and colour scheme also means they match with many different outfits.

We also enjoyed the undersated, classy branding, which sees just a small logo on the outersole of the shoe and tongue.

Performance

Most hybrid shoes max out in the comfort stakes, and the Under Armour Tempo Hybrid does the same.

However, while some in this category can seem over padded, and sometimes clumpy, this shoe maintains a sleek and streamlined feel.

A removable sock liner cradles the foot, while “charged” cushioning ensures heaps of energy return during the swing. You definitely feel a spring in your step as you make your down the fairway, which is always a bonus.

There is also a decent amount of control in the shoe, meaning there is no need to worry about twisting or turning while playing.

No matter whether we were swinging 100% with the big stick, or putting from three foot, we had full confidence we were locked in.

Rubber traction pods offer decent grip for the summer, or when the fairways are not too wet.

Of course, should you want maximum grip or control, another non-hybrid version in the range would be a better option. However, these do the job superbly for the summer months, or dry days around the season, and you get the added benefits that come with a spikeless shoe.

Should the heavens decide to open, which happens all too often in the British summertime, a water resistant covering will keep your feet dry for some time.

Verdict

A classy offering from Under Armour, that goes beyond what is required of a hybrid shoe.

Excellent aesthetics mean these can be worn on the course, in the clubhouse or out and about, and there is superb levels of comfort and control on offer.

The Under Armour Tempo Hybrid should be up near the top of the wishlist when on the search for a spikeless golf shoe in 2016.
