La Réserve Golf Links: Pure Golfing Drama

Challenging Layout

La Réserve Golf Links has been co-designed by acclaimed course architect Peter Matkovich, known for creating some of the world's most iconic golf courses, with the links expertise of Open Champion Louis Oosthuizen.

The 18-hole championship layout is designed to challenge golfers of all skill levels. With a par of 72, the course spans over 6,570 meters, with each hole offering multiple tee positions to provide challenging yet enjoyable experiences for golfers of any ability.

For seasoned players looking to test their game, tee it up on Louis’ back ‘57 tees’ if you dare and take on the challenge that faced competitors at the DP World Tour’s 2023 AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.

The course features wide fairways, strategically placed bunkers, and undulating greens, which require precise shot-making and strategic thinking. The layout is designed to take advantage of the natural landscape, providing a variety of holes that will test golfers' skills while offering stunning views of the surrounding scenery.

Links-Inspired Design

One of the standout features of the course is its links-style design, a rare find in the Mauritius golf landscape, giving it a distinctive character that sets it apart from other golf courses on the island.

It incorporates elements of traditional links courses, with tightly-mown, firm and fast fairways, long links-style grasses, pot bunkers, undulating greens, run-off areas and natural hazards, promoting strategic ‘along-the-ground’ play typical of the world’s great links courses.

Unique Features

Set against a backdrop of lush tropical vegetation and the rolling Savanne mountain range, La Réserve Golf Links boasts several unique features – including panoramic views over tropical bays, sandy beaches and the Indian Ocean that are visible on every tee and green.

Golfers will descend a dramatic 200m elevation change from the first tee, the highest point on the course, to the Clubhouse, captivated by the never-ending views of the course and ocean.

Adding to the unique playing experience, the back nine features three Par-3’s, three Par-4’s and three Par-5’s, two holes have split fairways, four holes have dramatic infinity greens, and the tricky 14^th has a bunker strategically placed on the green, patiently waiting to seize any errant approach shots.

‘For a traditional links feel’

Hole #17 

This wonderful Par-3 is inspired by Waterville, Ireland’s 12th, called the ‘Mass Hole’, which takes its name from an area surrounded by dunes where locals used to celebrate mass, baptisms and weddings. This cute but cunning short Par-3 has the ability to hurt a scorecard with a slightly errant tee shot.

‘For epic ocean vistas’

Hole #3

One of the holes at La Réserve Golf Links that gets all the attention thanks to its elevated position which commands breath-taking and panoramic vistas of the Indian Ocean beyond. Once the photographs have been taken, this hole represents a great birdie chance, but that’s after you’ve navigated the precision tee shot that is required. A short iron to the elevated ‘infinity’ green is all that’s required, but don’t go long!

Hole #11 

La Réserve has some beautiful Par-3s but the 11th is the longest, and arguably the most challenging. Like so many of the vistas on offer while you play, the 11th commands some stunning views of the bay beyond and the ocean to the right.

Hand-in-Hand with Nature

Inspired by the wild open spaces of the great seaside links, La Réserve Golf Links plays hand-in-hand with nature, mindful of its location alongside a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

Former sugar cane fields have been sensitively planted with native grasses to create rich rolling grasslands, encouraging ecological diversity, maintained by a state-of-the-art irrigation systems and sustainable water management practices. Every step has been carefully monitored, contributing towards its GEO Certified Development status, the global standard for sustainable course design.
