The Spaceport allows golfers to see into the head of the KING Ltd fairway wood, which is obviously completely awesome.
Overall it has a futuristic feel to it, like it’s been sent to earth from a foreign planet. The on-brand orange flashes contrast well with the overall black scheme.
Sat behind the ball, it has a relatively compact head, which may not suit the higher handicappers.
One of the most forgiving fairways we’ve hit in 2016. The Spaceport doesn’t just look cool – the 13 gram weight design creates a low and deep CG and high MOI, meaning we were getting superb distance from those off-centre hits.
The TeXtreme Carbon Fibre used in the crown is 20% lighter than regular carbon fibre, allowing Cobra to move weight into the perimeters to increase MOI.
The Speed Channel, a trench around the perimeter of the face that minimises thickness, further increases ball speeds when you stray from the sweet spot.
With all this tech, you can see why there’s so much help on offer.
Cobra bill this as a “zero CG fairway wood”, and it’s definitely easy to get in the air when hitting from the deck, no matter the lie.
In terms of distance, it was a bit behind the leaders on the market, but above the middle of the pack.
It also offers a decent amount of workability, which is surprising considering the amount of forgiveness on offer.
The MyFly Smartpad is simple to use, and works effectively.
The stock KING LTD Aldila Rogue Black shaft compliments the head well, offering heaps of feedback.
A forgiving club, that looks superb. The relatively small head may put off a few higher handicapers, but the amount of help on off-centre hits should make amends.
A great offering from Cobra, that marries funky aesthetics and performance.
